Last updated 23 October 2026

Who we are

Data8 is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at outreach@dataeight.io.

What this policy covers

This policy covers personal information we handle when you visit the Site or contact us, information about the people we do business with (founders, referrers, customers and advisers), and how we treat personal information contained in the data we acquire.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us, such as your name, email address, company and the details you share about a business, referral or data need.
  • Technical information collected automatically when you visit the Site, such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed and timestamps, recorded in standard server logs.
  • Information from other sources, such as an introduction from a referrer or publicly available business information.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiries and hold conversations you start with us
  • To evaluate potential acquisitions and referrals
  • To manage relationships with customers and partners
  • To keep the Site secure and working properly
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, we rely on our legitimate interests, the performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations or your consent, depending on the purpose.

Data in our datasets

Data we acquire through business acquisitions or partnerships is de-identified before it is delivered to customers. This includes removing or transforming direct identifiers such as names, contact details, precise locations and photos, and reviewing the results.

We require customers to agree not to attempt to re-identify individuals from the data we supply.

When we share information

We do not sell personal information collected through the Site. We share it only:

  • with service providers who help us run our business, such as hosting and email providers
  • with professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets
  • where the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others

International transfers

Where personal information is transferred to another country, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, as required by applicable law.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements, and then delete or anonymise it.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email outreach@dataeight.io. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
